Mindstream Academy, Where Teens Fit
I am so excited to announce my latest consulting gig: exec Chef Consultant to Mindstream Academy. This boarding school with a focus on healthy eating and fun fitness is right up our alley and we are happy to share this good service with the CtNL community. If I could have attended a place like Mindstream as a teen I might not have dropped out of school (too embarrassed by my weight to change from middle school to senior high). There is a bunch of evidence out that high school grads are skipping college due to low self esteem and negative body image issues associated with obesity.
To help get the word out, Mindstream has just hired this season’s Biggest Loser winner “Patrick” as spokesperson. It’s gonna be a great experience for myself and my Head Chef Brandon Franklin; working with veggies and fruits grown on the property in our own organic gardens, eggs gathered with the help of students from the laying chickens, local seafood and clean healthy yummy goods from around the South East. I’m super jazzed and want to encourage any of you with teens that might need this kind of help to check it out.
Breaking Up to the Holidays
Heavy eating during the holidays doesn’t have to be an around the clock stuffing of your stocking. Start the day light yet nutritious and see if you don’t eat less later on. Check our recipes for a gaggle of new breaky ideas, some a little bit fancy for the season and some just good old staples, always fast, flavorful and fun!
